It’s always been a dream of mine to work from home and I hope to get there one day. My dream is to earn a full-time income from blogging and I know many bloggers who were fortunate enough to be able to do this. This is all possible because of the technology that is available to us – the internet opens up a whole new world for many people.
While this would have not been possible years ago, more and more individuals are moving away from the traditional 9-5 and making the big leap to work from home. This includes obtaining employment in the travel industry.
Here are three examples of home-based travel positions:
Hilton Customer Care Coordinator
Hilton Worldwide sporadically hires customer care coordinators to work from home. Typically, this is a part-time position, taking incoming calls from HHonors Members who have questions about or problems with their accounts.
Unfortunately, Hilton Worldwide does not hire in every state. The good news is this… Currently, there are 40 states that qualify. Part of the application process includes submitting a video interview. So, if you’re uncomfortable on camera, you may want to look for other home-based travel positions. The choice is totally up to you!
World Travel Holdings
World Travel Holdings hires virtual customer service agents to book and/or service cruise reservations for a variety of online vendors. This includes Cruises Only, Priceline and Cheap Cruises and many more.
The hiring process is quite rigorous. Prospective employees must make it through three separate interviews Paid training lasts approximately 8 weeks. Schedules are assigned using a bidding system. The better your sales stats, the more chance you have to snag the schedule of your choosing.
WTH supplies agents with a work computer and compatible phone system. A $500 deposit is required. However, the money is not required upfront. The company takes $100 out of the employee’s first five paychecks.
This company offers full benefits, including paid vacation and 401k. The job carries with it a high level of stress. But, if you don’t mind interacting with angry callers on a regular basis, it might be the perfect home-based travel job for you.
Disney Vacation Travel Planner
If you can’t get enough of Disney vacation fun, why not look into the vacation planning opportunity offered by the Travel with the Magic program? Travel with the Magic is both IATA and CLIA accredited. This is a commission-based sales job. However, if you do well, you’re automatically in the running to attend agent education programs and participate in FAM trips.
Although there’s no indication as to the cost of the program, you can request information free. To be eligible, you must be a self-starter, have excellent computer skills and be open to selling all types of travel.
This is just three of many legitimate work from home jobs in the travel industry. If none of these interest you, feel free to take the time to perform your own search. You’ll probably be pleasantly surprised by all of the different options you find!
